As global warming awareness and gas prices increase, Blue Turtle Seduction is getting down and around in their waste vegetable oil powered tour bus. This is their alternative solution to fueling the needs of a touring band. Learn more

Blue Turtle Seduction is actively seeking vegetable oil, Can you help?

As Blue Turtle Seduction travels the country playing concerts, they use Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) as their fuel alternative. With an average of 200 concerts a year and driving 40,000 miles a year, Blue Turtle Seduction is spreading the word to all of their fans/friends to help acquire WVO. Blue Turtle Seduction is very excited to introduce an incentive based plan in exchange for obtaining usable WVO for the band’s tour bus. When people either obtain vegetable oil or secure waste vegetable oil with a restaurant’s permission, they will receive free tickets, music, t-shirts, hats, stickers, and/or a combination of the available items!

WVO can be found at restaurants. Sushi, Chinese, and Mexican restaurants tend to have the most usable WVO and most owners and managers are excited to have someone take this waste product off their hands. Please check in advance with someone at the restaurant to acquire permission. The best WVO will be translucent and not too cloudy; this is the type of oil Blue Turtle is seeking. It will usually be in a grease dumpster/barrel behind the restaurant. In which case BTS will come and collect the WVO at each restaurant. It may also be in 5 gallon plastic containers, which can be brought to the show. Another large source of oil can be oil pressing plants. These plants flush their systems with oil when switching from one pressing to another, after which the flush oil sometimes is discarded. If any of you are aware of such pressing plants, please contact the band via www.blueturtlemusic.com or the emails below.

Thank you for your time and interest.

Please feel free to email the DeepBlue crew with questions and/or WVO results.

Blue Turtle Seduction will play to protect ancient, endangered sea turtles on Saturday, November 14 at the newly-opened David Brower Center in Berkeley California.  The band is donating its time to play at Big Splash – an event to celebrate the Sea Turtle Restoration Project’s 20th anniversary.  The fundraising event is open to the public and will support the organization’s ongoing work to protect sea turtles and a wide array of marine wildlife species.

Biologist and ocean activist Todd Steiner founded the Sea Turtle Restoration Project to stop the slide of sea turtles to extinction for two decades. By using science and the threat of extinction to mobilize people around the world, the organization has saved hundreds of thousands, or possibly millions, of disappearing sea turtles from death due to human activities.

Mentored by the late maverick environmentalist David Brower, Executive Director Steiner, 52, founded the Sea Turtle Restoration Project in 1989 to end the slaughter of 50,000 sea turtles in Mexico for skins and shells to make shoes and jewelry. After the slaughterhouse was closed and sea turtle products banned internationally, Steiner turned his attention to one of today’s biggest threat to the species: accidental by-catch in tuna, swordfish and shark fleets.

In addition to closing the sea turtle slaughterhouse in Mexico, STRP’s successes have included compelling 20 nations to use turtle-saving gear in their shrimp fleets; creating policy reform that instituted a 200,000 square mile Leatherback Conservation Area (LCA) along the California and Oregon coasts; closing harmful longline fisheries in Hawaii and along the West Coast and stopping the World Trade Organization from gutting U.S. sea turtle protection laws. Their latest album 13 Floors is printed on recycled cardboard. The inks used for printing are also recycled.

Other than the CD itself, this product is made from 100% sustainable and biodegradable products!
